GAVIN Caney is set to live the dream at King’s Lynn this season – by taking the mic!

Caney, 29, will be the stadium presenter for Stars home meetings in what promises to be an exciting SGB Premiership campaign.

The former Easter Daily Press journalist is now communications manager for Studio 20a and has impressed when hosting special events with former Stars favourites Niels-Kristian Iversen and Rory Schlein.

He takes over from David Hoggart, who was on the mic last year commuting from West Yorkshire and the Stars would like to thank him for his hard work and dedication.

Caney has revealed how he is a lifelong Stars fan and is thrilled to have the opportunity to become a part of the Adrian Flux Arena racenight experience.

He said: "I never thought when I was standing on turn two as a kid with my twin sister and mum and dad that I'd eventually become the man out in the middle on the mic.

“So I'd like to thank Rob Lyon, especially, and everyone else at Lynn for taking a chance on me and giving me the opportunity to work for a club that's so close to my heart.

"It's a big challenge but one I'm excited by and I can't wait to get started. I know I've got a lot to learn, and quickly, but I'm not trying to reinvent the wheel.

We've had some great MCs at Lynn over the years - and will have many more once my time in the middle is up - so I've got plenty of insight about what already works. I just want to try and bring a few extra things that perhaps haven't been tried, or forgotten, and connect with all ages of the club's fanbase.

"Ultimately the club is looking to freshen things up a bit and hopefully I can help drive that. If I can help people enjoy their nights at the Arena that little bit more - regardless of the result - and create an atmosphere similar to what I've been part of on the terraces before then I'll be happy."

Meanwhile the Stars have called a staff meeting for Wednesday February 22 at the stadium from 7pm.

They are also looking for 10 voluntary staff members to help on racenights and anyone interested should email for more details.
